I love a good fireworks display and thankfully I have found myself in London for Bonfire Night aka Guy Fawkes Night. Want to know what it's all about? It's pretty simple. In 1605, this fella named Guy Fawkes was caught sneaking explosives underneath Parliament in an attempt to blow it up. So now there is a wonderful celebration in the cold, dark nights of Great Britain on the 5th of November every year, based around fireworks displays, as a way of saying 'look at how we follow through and ACTUALLY blow some stuff up'. Is it any wonder why I was never a history teacher?
And while the Americans may all still be reeling from Halloween, the Brits find the strength to carry on and make the most out of another holiday excuse to eat, drink and be merry. There's no real dressing up for this one, unless it is in the sense that it is freezing over here at the moment and the more you have on, the better off you'll be. But like I said...there is plenty of eating and drinking.
Hope you all have a safe, happy and delicious Bonfire Night!
