My first weekend back in London...

And it was rather action packed...so here is a quick overview of how I have spent the last three days: FRIDAY

After the arrival of one of my dear friends from the States (who I met while studying abroad in London!), we headed up to Hampstead Heath which, in my opinion, is one of the best things about Londontown.  Despite the rain that started just as we got there and continued through the entire evening, we enjoyed an outdoor concert by the one and only Tom Jones behind the beautiful setting of Kenwood House (if you have ever seen the film 'Notting Hill', you'll recognize it as the film set Hugh Grant visits Julia Roberts at).

Now, it is safe to say that it is borderline the most miserable I have ever been, sitting out in the rain for nearly 5 hours after the promise of a lovely picnic outdoors...but Mr. Jones delivered hits like 'Kiss', 'Leave Your Hat On', 'It's Not Unusual' and one of my favs 'Momma Told Me Not to Come', which took the edge off (along with the homemade margaritas).

SATURDAY

A very lazy morning.  A great guest eases your mind by responding to 'what time would you like me to wake you up?' with 'I've got nowhere to be and all day to get there'.  When we finally got moving, it was a visit to Lucy In Disguise to check out their new clothing line, followed by Liberty, Zara, Reiss and Topshop.  I scored high by finding my new favourite skirt, which made my day!

We then made our way to Odette's in Primrose Hill, which I have been desperate to try, for dinner and I cannot say enough amazing things about the meal.  Sitting outside, people watching and enjoying a bottle of champagne that my gorgeous friend treated me to for my birthday  :)  Odette's can be expensive, but it is totally worth it.  And if you are there between 6 and 7pm on Saturday and Sunday, they have a stunning set menu which is super affordable and a meal you'll be talking about for years.

SUNDAY

After making sure my visitor was safely on her way to the airport, I made my way to Hyde Park for Hard Rock Calling where I had a brilliant afternoon and evening of music from the likes of Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart.  Incredible performances!  Perfect weather!  A special guest performance from Ronnie Wood!  Pints of cider  :)

Now, I don't have any videos from the Hyde Park gig itself, but far be it from me to deny you two legends...

It has been a wonderful to start to my official 'birthday week' and the most celebrating, though unplanned, I have ever done :)
